Subscribe to the Mary Cassatt VoiceThread. (Get there through your edline account.) As soon as you log in, upload your avatar. Help each other by giving audible directions, NOT by typing on your peer’s keyboard. Remember, we learn BEST by doing, not by watching.

When your avatar is successfully uploaded, follow the directions on the first slide. You will have to do some research. Don’t give up. Persevere.

PSA Week

Here’s the link to a great tutorial for Photostory 3: How to Use Photostory 3. Everything you need to know about how to use the software is explained. If you are a newbie, use the tutorial.

Images and music must be school appropriate. AND you must give credit to the authors/creators of both. If you can’t find who created the image or music you want to use, DO NOT use it. Copyright law gives us freedom to use work that we did not create, for educational purposes, within certain boundaries. We will obey the law. Check out creative commons images and music for use in your PSA.

Using Google Docs

Posted @ 1:22 PM on March 9, 2010 by pbhensley

You got your user account at gmail.com so that you have access to all the neat Google tools. We’ll start using them by collaborating on a google document. I’ve created one for each of you. As soon as you send me a message from your gmail account, I will share the document with you. You will be able to log in and write in the document. I will be able to log in and read what you have written.

So. what are you writing? You’re going to tell me about your favorite artist, from any discipline: music, theater, writing, food, visual, etc. Choose a person that you already know about so that this doesn’t become a research project. Deadlines are as follow:

  • Introductory Paragraph – 3/12/2010
  • Invite a Collaborator – 3/15/2010
  • First Draft – 3/19/2010
  • Second Draft 3/26/2010
  • Final Essay – 4/2/2010

Be creative. Don’t insult me by telling me you’re writing an essay! Duh!

Wordle Quiz

Posted @ 7:10 AM on January 26, 2010 by pbhensley

Wordle is a fun web 2.0 app that many of my colleagues use. Today you will use it to take a quiz on the Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain exercises you’ve been doing.

Go to wordle.net and create a wordle with ten important words from the book so far. Think about the purpose of the exercises; think about what you learned (or should have learned.) Put the most important words in your wordle. (**You will explain your graphic later, so choose your words carefully.)

Consider varying font sizes and how you arrange the words on the page. Think about the principles of design as you work.

Have fun!

  • Are there spelling or grammatical errors in your comments?
  • Have we included all essential information for a comprehensive discussion of Vincent van Gogh?

Log in at our van Gogh Voicethread and rethink and revise. Consult the Voicethread Rubric Mrs. Hensley gave you in class.
